Tutoring & preparation
Start with the skill. Build your path.
Reading, writing, GED and general test preparation. Explore the support, then talk with Nicole about your individual learning needs.
Reading
Read the words. Understand the meaning.

Reading support builds reading skills and the confidence to use them. Comprehension is more than finishing a page: it means following ideas, connecting details and explaining what a text is saying.
Your current reading work can be a useful starting point for a conversation about individualized needs. Discuss the parts that feel difficult — unfamiliar vocabulary, keeping track of information or describing the main idea.
Before you get in touch
- Bring a passage or book you are currently reading.
- Mark a section that was hard to understand.
- Try explaining the main idea in your own words.
Writing
Make your thinking clearer on the page.

Nicole offers critique and advice on papers and assignments. Reviewing written work can help you notice how your ideas, structure and supporting details work together.
Bring the assignment instructions as well as your draft. Rather than starting with a blank question, identify what you want to improve: a stronger opening, clearer organization or a more complete explanation.
Before you get in touch
- Keep the prompt, rubric and draft together.
- Highlight one paragraph you would like to revise.
- Note any feedback you have already received.
GED preparation
Give your preparation a clear direction.

GED preparation focuses on the learning and test-taking skills an exam asks for. Talk with Nicole about your starting point, the material you are studying and the areas where support would be useful.
A practical first step is to look at your existing study materials or practice work and identify patterns. Content knowledge and the way you approach questions both matter. No particular score or outcome is promised.
Before you get in touch
- Bring current study materials or practice questions.
- List topics you feel comfortable with and those you do not.
- Keep any official test information you are using nearby.
General test preparation
Prepare the knowledge — and the approach.

Test preparation support develops learning and test-taking skills around individualized needs. Explain the test you are preparing for, what it covers and where you would like help.
Useful preparation includes reviewing instructions, working carefully through practice questions and reflecting on mistakes. Nicole can discuss whether your particular preparation needs are a fit for Pathway’s support.
Before you get in touch
- Identify the test and its official requirements.
- Bring practice work and questions you want to review.
- Describe what is difficult: the material, question wording or managing your approach.
A few common questions
Before you begin.
Which subject should I choose?
Choose the closest fit. If your needs overlap, describe that in your inquiry — for example, understanding a reading passage and writing about it.
What if I’m not sure where I need help?
Share an example of recent work and describe what felt difficult. A specific example makes it easier to discuss possible support.
How much does tutoring cost?
Ask Nicole for current rates, availability and session details. Both virtual and face-to-face support are available to discuss.
